Is spouse a dependant for mortgage ?

It all depends on the circumstances. For example if the spouse is a house wife without an income, the spouse would be considered as a dependant. But the spouse has their own income than they would not be considered as an adult dependant.

If the spouse is not working then the spouse will be considered as an adult dependent. The spouse can be a co-borrower or adult dependent. Whether the spouse has an income or not will have an effect on the mortgage application outcome

When it comes to obtaining a mortgage, the question of whether or not a spouse is considered a dependent can arise. While it may seem like a straightforward answer, the reality is that the answer can vary depending on the specific circumstances of each borrower. Generally, if one spouse’s income is used to qualify for the mortgage, then the other spouse will undoubtedly be considered a dependent. However, if both parties’ incomes are used to qualify, then it is typically not necessary to consider one spouse a dependent. It’s essential to consult with a knowledgeable mortgage advisor or lender to determine your specific situation and how it impacts your eligibility for a mortgage.
